Deliberately combining the samurai tale with the iconography of a John Ford Western, Yojimbo tells the story of a small town caught between two warring factions, and the stranger who sets out to upset that perilous balance of power. Kurosawa’s classic provided the inspiration for Sergio Leone’s A Fistful of Dollars and countless other westerns. This film is part of Bryn Mawr Film Institute's Akira Kurosawa Retrospective film series. Presented with subtitles, it runs 1 hr 50 min.
