The dramatic action sequences are Kurosawa at his best and were a major influence on George Lucas’s Star Wars. This film, part of Bryn Mawr Film Institute's Akira Kurosawa Retrospective film series, is also shown in conjunction with a Summer Classics Seminar, which provides a stand-alone class about the film taught by one of the institute's popular instructors. Presented with subtitles, the film runs 2 hr 19 min
