First known as Cavil at Rest, Local Natives is the latest great find out this past year's SXSW fest. A dreamy pop outfit with afro-beats and favorable comparisons to indie greats Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend and Arcade Fire, the group got their start in sunny Los Angeles. With long-time housemates Kelcey Ayer (keyboardist), Ryan Hahn and Taylor Rice (guitarists), Matt Frazier (drums) and Andy Hamm (bass) all collaborating on song-writing and artwork, it's no wonder that the music made by this quintet is so seamless.

After playing nine impressive shows in Austin this past March, Local Natives sufficiently impressed enough fans, critics, and record companies to get their debut out in the UK and the US in a matter of months. Titled Gorilla Manor (in honor of their shared abode in Orange County, where much of the album was written), the twelve-track collection is an emotional yet unfailingly cheerful pop offering. The weaving three-part harmonies and hyperactive percussion inevitably bring more comparisons to Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, and more folksy outfits such as Band of Horses.

In support of their album, the five-piece is currently touring across Europe. With performances in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, and Dublin, the California group is sure to expand their fan base across the pond.
