    Dye Discharge

Here’s an opportunity to try a technique that mimics Ikat and Batik. The process uses a reduction agent, moisture and heat to remove dye color in patterns on cloth and yarn. After discharging designs on commercial cotton, rayon and silk fabrics, each student will design a piece of fabric to create a “yuroshiki” carry bag. Not all dyes and fabrics reduce, so bring pieces of your favorite cloth and/or yarns to try. Limit 10 students.
